What is French’s Point?
French’s Point is a cluster of buildings dating to the 1800s that once served as a retreat center for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bangor.
Is there a hotel block?
There are a number of nearby lodging options, including the ones listed on our “Travel and Stay” page. We will be arranging shuttles (school buses!) for all who who would like on Friday and Saturday nights.
What’s the best way to get around?
French’s Point is in a relatively rural area. There are no Uber and taxis in the area. The best way to get around is to drive or rent a car. If you are staying in one of the houses on Hersey Retreat Road, all of the wedding events will be walking distance or a short drive/golf cart ride.
Will there be airport shuttles?
There will not be airport shuttles. We know a number of folks will be flying into Portland and Bangor. Please let us know your plans, we are happy to connect you with others on similarly-timed flights to carpool.
What is the dress code?
For the Friday night barbeque, come as you are.
For Saturday night, the dress code is cocktail attire (ish) (think dresses, dressy separates, shirts and slacks, suits if you want, etc.)
That being said, we mostly just want everyone to feel great and be comfortable, so please wear whatever is going to make you happy. All events will involve walking on grass, so please keep that in mind when selecting footwear (Birkenstocks welcome).
Are my kids invited?
Yes! We love the kids in our life and are glad to include them in our celebration.
There are childcare providers in the area for anyone who would like to bring their kids for the weekend but might want to have childcare for the reception or other events. Please let us know if this is of interest, happy to connect you with a recommended babysitter.
Is Lily giving a speech?
Yes.
